When Darkness Trembles: The Unstoppable Light of Christmas
This message explores how the familiar characters of Christmas—Frosty, Rudolph, Buddy the Elf—and even the darker figures like the Grinch and Scrooge reflect the human experience of joy, frustration, and spiritual struggle. Using Isaiah 8 and 9, it highlights how God’s people faced deep darkness due to their own choices, rejecting God’s guidance and suffering the consequences. Yet, despite the gloom, God promised hope. The word “nevertheless” in Isaiah 9 marks the turning point: a great light has come. Through the birth of Jesus—the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace—God breaks into humanity’s darkness with hope, joy, and everlasting peace. The message emphasizes that although life brings hardship and we often make harmful choices, God’s love, guidance, and redemption point to better days ahead. Our story is not over; Christ’s peace allows us to become the people we were meant to be. Christmas is the reminder that the light has come, continues to come, and will ultimately triumph in Christ’s return.
