James reminds us that our lives are like a mist—here for a little while and then gone. We may make plans for tomorrow, build careers, achieve success, and think we are in control, but we don't know what tomorrow holds. The answer isn't to stop planning; it's to submit our plans to God and recognize His sovereignty.

True humility says, “Lord, your will be done.” It means recognizing that we aren't in charge of every circumstance, that we don't have all the answers, and that God's strength is often revealed through our weakness.

James also challenges us to consider not only the things we do wrong, but the good things we know we should do—and choose not to do. If we are going to truly be the church, our faith must move beyond words and into action.

So take a look in the mirror: How are you approaching life? Are you trying to force your will on God, or are you humbly trusting His will?
